When I joined the project, the team was small and there was already an MVP running, even with two pilot customers. It was a great opportunity to research and discover features that customers valued as well as points for improvement.

At the beginning of the customer interviews, it was clear the companies' objective to use the content added by them in an organized way, in order to carry out communication or even training within the company. Whenever they talked about goals, a non-existent feature was mandatory from their point of view. They wanted to know if the content had been delivered, how many people and who had seen it, and everything that involved content and users.

On the other hand, we knew that it was a view from top to bottom, under the eyes of the management teams. There was also the point of view of those who consumed content. With them, we found that the easy and simple interface delivered a consumer experience very close to what they were used to seeing on the Internet, not in management and training systems.

We had just found great points to address, which in the future we would find to be the pillars of the product we were creating.

While customer surveys showed one path, we knew we needed to be scalable to meet the needs of the most diverse teams. By that time, other companies were already contacting us, and each one had its own purpose. This is how we stated our goals.

If there is a message to be passed on, it should be in Skore. With no barriers or unexpected circumstances, the product should work with all types of files. Using information from the Internet in our favor was something applied from the beginning. Links from YouTube, Dropbox, Slideshare, TedTalk, news sites, blogs, or wherever users' curiosity takes them. To top it off, let users write their own notes, wikis, guides, briefings, and scripts directly on Skore using our text editor.

Organize each space to suit different needs

Our challenge was clear. Deliver a simple interface that emphasizes content and allows easy organization. We moved away from the old concept of folders inside folders, and looked for a solution that organized objects in layers. We have arrived in four Space templates, which help the user to deliver different types of solutions. From collaborative to training to sections, to courses.

In this way, we could help companies to develop their knowledge in an organized way, with total freedom to change and scale. To reorder and organize, a simple drag and drop move within everyone's reach.

An educational layer could be added to the content, through quizzes to turn any type of content into training material with validation. All of it in an environment that encourages interaction among users. They could comment on content, mention others and even asking clarifications from one another.

To serve admin users, we needed to deliver data.  Like the whole concept, we wanted to be simple. No gigantic dashboards or complex data analysis systems. The goal was to help managers understand what their teams were learning and anticipate trends to be prepared at the right time. Helping to find learning gaps, discovering the most discussed topics, identifying leaders and hidden talents, all designed to support managers. Not to mention of course monitoring progress of all contents of each company.

At first, we had only Brazilian companies as customers of Skore. The discussions, feedback, and even development were always carried out with close relationships. Typically the product was introduced to small teams within each company, such as a pilot project. Several have been performed and many of them have become customers later.

We reached companies that actually run different types of content sharing and saw each of our templates perform their roles. One of the most emblematic cases is a Brazilian company. Prior to Skore, it achieved engagement rates of only 7% of its more than 5,000 employees. After the adoption of Skore as the official communication and training platform, this index jumped to more than 80%. A great victory for them and for our team.

After our first assumptions were tested, it was time for an international launch. The chosen entry door was Product Hunt, which provided great feedback as well as internationally known customers.

LEARNING

Working at Skore was a great learning experience. Participating in the beginning of a project that grew not only as a product but also as a concept, technology, team, among many other points, was something of great value. There were innumerable innovation discussions, often very active, to get to the exact point we wanted to reach.

There is also learning with the product, which has many features, but not all have been delivered with the level of refinement that we dreamed of. There has been so much learning in the art of listening. Customers, surveys, users and many others who in one way or another have been involved with Skore.

Working in the company's office, but having remote members across Brazil, has taught and challenged everyone. From communication at work to the alignment of the company's goals, everything needed to be learned.

Personally, it was a great opportunity to grow and learn in an extremely agile environment, often hands-on, but with a lot of concept and validation. The proximity to the technical team contributed a lot to get more familiar with the technology, working with people who really helped me get the job done.
